The Headstrong Belgian IPA

King Mule is brewed in Belgium using the finest hops and according to the traditional, ‘old school’ Belgian brewing method.

It’s smooth and refreshing, with a light taste of tangerine for just the right amount of kick.

A light taste of tangerine. A strong attitude.

AWARD-WINNING

Heritage Brew

Our family began brewing beer in the early 19th century, and ever since we brewed our first batch, our mission has been simple: Championship-quality craft beers that live up to the Belgian traditions of brewing perfection.

MORE THAN 200 YEARS OF HERITAGE

Six Generations of Family Brewers

1811

Jan M. Cornelissen founded Brouwerij Sint-Jozef as a local farm brewery in the early 1800’s in a small village called ‘Gerdingen’.

1859

Jan Cornelissen moved the brewery to the city of Opitter, which has been Cornelissen’s home and heart ever since.

1890

Jan left the Cornelissen business to his son, Jaak Cornelissen, a talented brew master. Jaak then created our award-winning PAX Pils in 1918 to mark the end of WW1.

1924

Jaak Cornelissen stepped aside, putting his son Jan in charge. Jan grew the brewery, water, and lemonade businesses. The Sint-Jozef brewery became well known in the Limburg area of Belgium and in Germany.

1979

Jozef Cornelissen assumed management of the brewery due to the sudden death of his father. He modernized the brewery and crafted new brands, readying it for the next generation.

2014

Jef Cornelissen took over the brewery from his father Josef. In 2015, Jef launched our brewery’s export sales business. For the first time in 208 years, our beers began to be exported beyond our home region to more than 20 new countries — and now we’re in America.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Reviews

A taste bomb. Foam head smells like mandarin and zest of mandarin. Orange blossom too. Taste is a balance between mandarin, zest and bitterness. Happiness in a glass.

It takes a sip to completely bitterly taste your taste buds… [D]efinitely not for everyone. For ordinary fans, I do not recommend trying. For advanced users only.
